In Review: 2019-2020 Legislative Session

The Missouri Legislative Session ended on May 15, 2020. In positive news, many of the destructive bills we advocated against during the session did not pass. Unfortunately, the Higher Education Budget passed with language prohibiting public colleges and universities from offering in-state tuition or scholarship to undocumented students. We do expect that many of the bills below will return next session, and we will be ready to testify and continue to educate the public to ensure they do not pass.

Tell your legislator to oppose SB 642, which mandates that public institutions of higher education charge international tuition rates to undocumented students.

Tell your legislator to support House Bill 1423 and House Bill 1863, which establish in-state tuition for undocumented students.

Oppose the Police-to-ICE Pipeline

Forcing municipalities to divert funding toward immigration enforcement rather than local public safety concerns is bad for public safety and undermines the trust between local law enforcement and the families they serve. Tell your Senator to oppose SB 589.
