Support HB 2601: Immigrant Tenant Protection Act of Missouri
On February 25th, Representative Sarah Unsicker (D-91) filed HB 2601 for consideration in the Missouri legislature. HB 2601, also known as the Immigrant Tenant Protection Act of Missouri, prevents landlords from disclosing or threatening to disclose the immigration status of their tenants. HB 2601 would allow tenants to sue landlords that discriminate on these grounds for up to $2,000. St. Francis Community Services, along with the Immigrant Housing Project and the Missouri Immigration Policy Coalition, applaud Representative Unsicker for taking action so that Missouri renters do not face intimidation and retaliation in their homes because of their immigration status.
