Congratulations to the 2017 Sr. Betty Brucker, FSM Memorial Scholarship Recipient!

Congratulations to Rosetta, who was presented with St. Francis Community Services’ second annual Sr. Betty Brucker, FSM Memorial Scholarship on March 8th, 2017. This scholarship is intended to provides assistance to a student pursuing . Rosetta is a graduating senior at a St. Louis area high school. She has dreamed of becoming a doctor since age 5, and will be begin making this dream a reality as she enters college next year as a pre-med student. Her hard work and dedication to academics have certainly paid off! With a mission-oriented mindset, Rosetta says, “Although some may view a medical career as a very non-emotional one I believe it requires a strong sense of compassion for life. I want to be able to express my compassion of life through my career, and that is why I’m very determined to become a doctor.”

The namesake of this scholarship, Sr. Betty Brucker, was a member of the Franciscan Sisters of Mary. She passed in June 2015 after serving the community for over six decades. She led St. Mary’s Health Center for 16 years, worked to establish important community initiatives, and was instrumental in founding St. Francis Community Services programs that, still today, serve individuals in need in the Archdiocese. As tireless advocate for the poor, Sr. Betty’s work and compassion touched countless lives.
